What started as a cool and crisp morning quickly warmed up to a sunny 80 degrees. The winds were light. A perfect fall day for a car show. A group of LSCC members met at Ray's house for a cruise to the annual Wolfe City Cruisin' Autumn Car and Truck Show. Ray in his orange 67, Doug and Teal in their newly finished white Eliminator, Bob and Mark in Bob's big block 68, I with my 71, and Matt and Shelia in their Red 70 caravanned together to the show. Once we got there we were joined by Richard with his 78.
With 339 registered entries and many additional non-registered vehicles, it was a record setting show show for Wolfe City. The spectator parking lot seemed to have as many cars as were participating in the show. There was a constant stream of people looking at the cars and our Cougars drew a lot of attention. Being some distance from DFW, there were many cars that are not normally seen at the local shows. Of course there were too many late-model Mustangs, Corvettes, and Camaros, but there was also a wide variety of less often seen models.
If you haven't been to the Wolfe City show, you should make it a point to go to the next one. Its a great venue. There is plenty of parking, restrooms and food and drink is available, There was an art and craft sale and a bake sale in the gymnasium. There was door prizes, music, and a 50/50 raffle. All or the proceeds went to support local charities, scholarships, and the local library. Great weather, lots of cars and a good cause makes for a day well spent.
